CEO & Chief Forensic Expert

Daniel J. Loper is a certified computer, cellphone, and vehicle system forensics examiner and licensed private detective with over 25 years’ experience working in the Information Technology field. He started his career in the computer technology and software sector in 1997. After receiving a Master of Science in Information Systems from Southern New Hampshire University in 2006 he began to transition himself fulltime to the eDiscovery and Digital Forensic space. As CEO of Granite Discovery, Daniel’s experience in eDiscovery has ranged from consulting F100 companies to providing digital forensics to attorneys on both criminal and civil matters at the state and federal level. His wide-ranging skillset endows Granite Discovery with the ability to offer clients the most efficient and effective solutions for identifying, collecting, and analyzing digital evidence.

His work in digital forensics includes working on domestic, homicide, fraud, and child exploitation cases. Daniel’s specialized knowledge of computer systems and software enables him to have a thorough understanding of how users create and use data to include how software is designed and operates. As an expert forensic examiner working with both computer/cellphone forensics and cell record/tower analysis, he has provided clients the information to support or challenge the validity of evidence. Most critically, his work has been instrumental in recovering data from inoperable devices and further identifying data that was never identified in prior examinations, which resulted in positive outcomes for his clients.

Daniel obtained his private investigation certification from Ashworth College and is licensed and bonded in multiple states. Daniel has developed a team of private investigators that have law enforcement backgrounds from government, state, and local organizations in order to provide clients with best in class services. As Daniel says, “Granite Discovery will leave no stone unturned when it comes to providing investigative services”.

As an experienced certified forensic examiner and private investigator, Daniel Loper maintains his eDiscovery EnCE® Certification, Oxygen Forensics Certification, Project Management Certificate from George Washington University, GIAC Advance Smartphone Forensic Certification (GASF), and Berla iVe Ecosystem Certification. Daniel also speaks at conferences and for the Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education system on topics such as cellphone forensics and how to properly establish a repeatable and defensible eDiscovery program.
